Profibus DP/DP Coupler 6ES7 158-0AD01-0XA0 (EC-0041)

December 6, 2015 0

A revised version of the DP/DP coupler has been developed as part of the innovation of network components. The new coupler is fully compatible with the existing product and feature a number of new functions.

Function:

The function of the DP/DP coupler is to connect two Profibus DP networks with one another and to transfer data between the masters of both networks. The maximum size of the transmitted data is 244 bytes of input data and 244 bytes of output data. The DP/DP coupler can be configured with STEP 7, or with a configuration tool and a GSD file.

Features:

The DP/DP coupler has the following features:

  • Exchange of up to 244 bytes of input or output data, of which up to 128 bytes can be consistent
  • Up to 16 I/O areas for the exchange of data
  • If one side fails, the outputs of the other side will retain their last value
  • Support of DPV1 with complete and unified diagnostics
  • PROFIBUS addresses can be set either by means of a switch on the DP/DP coupler, or with STEP 7 (or another configuration tool)
  • Different baud rates and PROFIBUS addresses can set on either sides of the DP/DP coupler
  • Galvanic isolation between the two DP networks
  • Two-sided galvanically isolated power supply
  • Approved for operation in Ex areas of Zone 2

Mounting:

Position:
The DP/DP coupler can be mounted vertically or horizontally.

Open-type equipment:
The DP/DP coupler is an open-type equipment. This means that it can only be mounted in housings, cubicles or electrical equipment rooms.

Mounting:
The DP/DP coupler can be mounted on a standard mounting rail (7.5 mm and 15 mm) or on an S7 mounting rail.

Replacement:

The new DP/DP coupler will replace the existing DP/DP coupler within a transition period of approx. 3 months (where both couplers will be available).

Compatibility:

The DP/DP coupler with the order no. 6ES/ 158-0AD01-0XA0 is compatible with the DP/DP coupler with order no. 6ES7 158-0AD00-0XA0.
The diagnostic information of the new coupler for Sync and Freeze operation have been improved compared to the predecessor product and are now in conformity with the Profibus standard.

The revised DP/DP coupler has a two-sided power supply. This is available as an option, but is not mandatory. For reasons of compatibility the voltage supply may also be one-sided.

The casing of the new coupler has been changed to S7-300 design, compared to the existing DP/DP coupler. However, all the installation dimensions have remained compatible with the existing design.

It is thus possible to use the revised DP/DP coupler as a compatible spare part replacement for the old coupler.
